Faked out? How to get real in Cancún.
In the 1970s, just as the rest of the world was discovering "cultural tourism" — focusing on a country's communities and traditions — Mexico, which had little but cultural tourism until then, unveiled Cancún. Today droves of visitors come to the resort town to lounge on body-lined beaches, drink yard-long margaritas and dance to American hits in fog-filled megaclubs. But what if you're in Cancún and actually want a slice of the real Mexico?
