SU's Erica Morrow earns Big East's top weekly honor

Syracuse junior guard Erica Morrow has become the first SU women's basketball player in four years to be named the Big East Player of the Week.

Morrow averaged 22.5 points per game in leading the undefeated Orange (6-0) to two victories in the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic last week. She had 16 points, five steals, four rebounds and three assists in a 65-32 rout of Old Dominion on Thanksgiving. The next night, she tied her career high with 29 points in an 80-64 beating of Butler. She made 10-of-21 shots in that game and passed the 1,000-point mark for her career. She now has 1,017.

The last Orange woman to receive the top weekly Big East honor was Vaida Sipaviciute, when she set the program's single-game record with 41 points in a victory over Colgate in December 2005.
