Virgin venerated in Caribbean Sea

Hundreds of Catholic faithful accompanied the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, patroness of Isla Mujeres, on the land and sea procession that took place shortly after 15:00 pm yesterday, first by the bay and then through the main streets of the island.

The Virgin of the Immaculate Conception was also escorted by over 150 children who confirmed their faith in the confirmations and first communions, during the holy mass he celebrated the pastor Jesús Martínez Penilla during the morning.

As a preliminary figure handled more than three thousand faithful who made the procession, which left the church bearing the name of the Virgin.
   
The route followed the procession was as follows: toured the main avenues of the first frame of the city to reach the pier, where they boarded a vessel of deep draft to begin with the procession of boats.

During the procession were about 60 smaller craft that escorted the tour boat in which was the Virgin by the bay.

This event was supported by staff from the Port Captain, Civil Protection and Public Security and Traffic.
