Frontier to extend KC-Cancun flight into summer

Cancun is not just a winter and springtime getaway destination any longer.

At least that's what Frontier Airlines hopes. The carrier will extend its nonstop service from Kansas City International Airport to the Mexican resort into late August.

Frontier will operate two Kansas City-Cancun nonstop flights _ one on Saturday and the other on Sunday _ during the final weekend of April and first weekend of May.

Then starting May 8, Frontier will have one weekly Saturday morning departure to Cancun through Aug. 28.

"Extending our service over the summer now provides the Kansas City community with greater access to their favorite Mexican vactiona destination," said Daniel Shurz, Frontier's vice president of planning and strategy, in a statement.
